Some "shifty" questions
I am new both to motorcycles (I've been riding scooters until now), and to the States. A few days ago I bought a used motorcycle (not too old - from 2009, with just a bit over 4,000 miles), Yamaha 250cc. It generally drives well, but there are a few things I just need an advice of experienced people about - whether they're OK and I need to learn to drive a bike with gears, or I should go back and yell at the guy who sold me the bike (not literally, of course).
So, the issues are:
1) When I shift the gears, there is a loud clunk.
2) From the first gear it just won't shift into the neutral, no way at all. I would think that the clutch doesn't get released all the way, but it only starts to "catch" when the lever is off more than half way.
The one that bothers me the most:
3) During riding, any time I release the throttle (without touching anything else - kind of going from acceleration to "braking with engine"), there is a strong jerk. The same if I am doing "braking with the engine" and then accelerate. I checked the chain, it is a bit weak, but apparently not more than 4 cm (as in the manual). Or I don't know how to measure it correctly.
Any advice will be appreciated.
