I want a bike

But not exactly a motorcycle, I want a scooter/moped and was hoping for some opinions and advice.

The reason I want a scoote is because I am on a very limited income and cannot afford a car, gas, and insurance. Even if I saved and bought a car outright, gas and insurance is still expensive. Everyone in my family has ridden motorcycles. My mom taught my dad how to drive one. My grandfather and all of his sons drove bikes. I've been on a bike since I was a little kid, so I am no stranger to motorcycles. Admittedly, I don't have a motorcycle permit or license but I plan on taking the written test in a few months (working on getting my driver's license), and then take an approved riders course shortly after.

I'm looking for budget scooters that are around 1k-2k new.
